A story that still continues
Artistico is a Bulgarian family company that began in 1995 as a flooring shop. Talking to customers showed Malin Valchinov what the market was missing — good materials, installation done properly, and a manufacturer who takes responsibility for the whole result. In 1998 our own production started in the village of Trud. Today the second generation carries the work on and grows the business together with the team.
For us a good floor is not simply a material that gets delivered. It has to be chosen correctly, installed correctly and looked after over the years.
The first shop
We start with the first flooring shop in Plovdiv, convinced that a natural wooden floor makes a better home.
The first workshop in Trud
We set up our own production in the village of Trud, believing in better quality and in the long road ahead.
Art parquet becomes our signature
Making complex floors to individual designs, the craft becomes our signature and starts travelling the world.
First steps into the European market
What is made in Trud starts crossing the border. The first orders from abroad show that the craft reads the same everywhere.
The first engineered floors
We move to engineered construction — 4 mm of oak on birch plywood. More stable over underfloor heating and more sparing with timber. Today it is our main product.
A second factory in Sliven
Production now runs in two places. More capacity, without giving up control over every board.
The second generation carries it on
Kristiyan Valchinov takes over and grows Artistico with new ideas, the same values and an eye on what comes next.
What we do in-house
One board of engineered flooring passes through eight hands in Trud before it reaches your floor. Here they are.
Drying
Wet oak goes into specialized chambers with computer-controlled temperature and humidity. This is the stage you do not see in the finished floor, and the one most often cut short. Not here.
Planing and blank cutting
The dried material is planed and cut into blanks matching the width of the future board.
Splitting into lamellas
Each blank is split into four 4 mm lamellas — this is the top wear layer. The first defect inspection happens here.
Selection by grain figure and color
The lamellas are laid out by hand. Which boards sit well together is decided by eye, not by machine.
Bonding onto plywood
The lamella is bonded with hot polyurethane adhesive onto moisture-resistant birch plywood. That is where the stability over underfloor heating comes from.
Tongue and groove
The board gets its joint. Not “click” — tongue and groove, installed with adhesive. The floor becomes one piece with the subfloor and can be refinished for years.
Filling and sanding
A second defect inspection, filling of the cracks and calibration. Only here do you see what the surface will be.
Factory lacquering or oiling
The finish is applied on our own line — more evenly and more durably than on site. This is our latest investment in the workshop.
Art parquet
Marquetry is the assembly of a pattern from pieces of wood of different color and texture — no paint, no print. The colors are the woods themselves: the light is ash or oak, the dark is wenge or walnut, the reddish is cherry or doussie.
The machine cuts the elements with a precision the hand cannot match. The hand decides which boards belong side by side — something the machine cannot judge. Both are needed. The last check before gluing is done by eye.
Our catalog consists of 248 models — figured panels, rosettes and friezes. The woods in them are not fixed: every model can be made in a different combination, and the pattern stays the same. We also accept customer drawings.
A rosette is usually an accent — a single element in the middle of the room, not an ornament across the whole floor. The lead time is 2–3 months for the rosettes and panels and 4–6 weeks for the friezes: a floor like this is not made for stock.

The Artistico team — from production to installation
From the workshop to your home — one team is responsible for the whole process. Our own people handle production, delivery, installation and the care that follows, so you know who to turn to at every stage.
We work mainly in Plovdiv and Sofia, and for larger projects we take on sites in other cities too.
Artistico has been a family business since 1998. Founder Malin Valchinov is responsible for timber and for building wooden houses, while Kristiyan Valchinov handles parquet, composite decking and restoration. Today the second generation leads the company.
The last centimeters are done by hand
Installation decides how long the floor will last. The adhesive is applied with a notched trowel over the entire area, the boards are selected one by one, and every corner is cut on site.
We make wooden floors. We select solutions for the rest of the home.
At Artistico we combine our own production with carefully selected floors and materials from partners. We say clearly which is made by us and which we supply, so you know what you are choosing.

We select and supply
Velvet Stone is our own brand. The SPC board itself does not come out of our workshop — it is made in a specialised factory that produces for many companies. Its specification, however, is set by us, the packaging and the design are ours, and this floor is not sold under any other name anywhere else. Behind that choice stand more than twenty-five years of working with floors.
Decking, skirting and some of the consumables are not our production either. We select them and supply them from proven partners.
We make this distinction clearly, because trust begins with accurate information.
What we finish it with
The floor does not end with the board. The adhesive, the moisture barrier, the lacquer, and the oil decide how it will look in ten years. That is why we choose them ourselves — and for all three brands of installation materials we use, we are the sole authorized distributor for Bulgaria.

The right construction for the particular floor
The choice of floor depends on the room, the subfloor, underfloor heating and how the space is used. We explain the differences between the options so you can choose a construction that suits your project.
Control over the details
We watch the material and the workmanship through each stage of production. At installation we adapt the layout, the joints and the transitions to the particulars of the site.
Responsibility after installation too
When production, delivery and installation are part of one process, you know who to ask. We also give guidance on the care that keeps the floor looking well.
Prices you can see
Our prices are in the shop rather than something you have to ask for by e-mail. You know what the material costs before you call, and the quote adds only what is specific to your site.
Timber is a valuable material. We use it with care.
Natural timber calls for careful selection and precise work. We aim to use its qualities fully — from choosing the material to the finished floor.
Less oak in the construction
In engineered parquet a 4 mm oak wear layer is combined with a plywood base instead of a 20 mm solid board. Less oak is needed for the top layer, while the visible surface stays natural wood.
A floor that can be renewed
With proper care and depending on the condition of the floor, a 4 mm wear layer allows the parquet to be sanded and renewed. The floor can serve longer before it has to be replaced.
Materials intended for interior use
For finishing and installation we use lacquers, oils and adhesives intended for interior use. In choosing them we follow the manufacturers' instructions and the requirements for safe handling and use in living spaces.
Wood is chosen by hand, not on a screen
