Why Artistico

Herringbone and chevron parquet made for your specific space

The beautiful geometry is only the beginning. With herringbone and chevron parquet, the end result depends on the precision of the lamellas, the right proportions, the quality of the wood and precise installation. At Artistico we control the entire process — from choosing the pattern and construction to the finished floor.

Over 25 years of experience

For more than 25 years we have been manufacturing and installing natural wood floors. We know how oak behaves and how to match the pattern, size and construction to the specifics of each room.

Our own production in Bulgaria

The lamellas are manufactured at our facility in Trud specifically for each project. This lets us control the dimensions, angles, wood grade, color and lead time.

A pattern to match your interior

We offer classic herringbone, chevron 45° and 60°, double herringbone and custom compositions made to order. We help you choose the right geometry and lamella size for the area, proportions and style of the room.

Solid or engineered construction

Every pattern can be made as solid or engineered parquet. The solid version suits classic interiors and restorations, while the engineered construction provides higher stability with underfloor heating and in modern buildings.

🜨

European oak and an individual finish

You choose the oak grade, size, color and surface treatment. Natural, whitened, smoked or matched to a sample — we finish the parquet with professional Loba and Vermeister oils and lacquers according to the look and the traffic in the room.

Precise installation and single responsibility

With herringbone and chevron, even a minimal deviation can disturb the entire geometry. That is why production, preparation, delivery, installation and finishing are carried out by a specialized team — with one point of contact, warranty and future maintenance.

Configure your herringbone or chevron parquet

Every project starts with the geometry, because it sets the rhythm and character of the entire floor. Choose a pattern, construction, size, oak grade, color and finish — or send us a floor plan and we will help you create the most suitable solution.

Patterns — choose the rhythm of your floor

The four patterns create a different feel in the interior. Each can be produced from European oak or another suitable wood species and made in solid or engineered construction.

Standard oak herringbone — an Artistico pattern

Standard herringbone

Classic geometry with a timeless look. The rectangular lamellas are laid at a right angle, with the short end of each board meeting the long side of the next. The result is a dense, rhythmic pattern that suits both classic and modern interiors.

Hungarian chevron 45° in oak — an Artistico pattern

Chevron — Hungarian herringbone

A clean V-shaped line. The lamellas are cut at 45° or 60° and meet point to point. The successive V shapes visually elongate the room and create a sense of symmetry, order and premium finish.

Double oak herringbone — an Artistico pattern

Double herringbone

A larger rhythm and strong visual presence. The lamellas alternate in pairs in each direction. The larger scale of the figure highlights the natural texture of the oak and is especially suitable for spacious living rooms, houses, hotels and representative spaces.

Custom special-form herringbone — Artistico

Special forms

An individual composition for a unique project. Non-standard sizes, angles, curved lamellas, decorative borders and combined compositions. Each pattern is designed and produced specifically for the geometry and character of the space.

Sizes — choose the right rhythm

The lamella size defines the scale and character of the parquet. A width of 90 mm creates a finer, more dynamic geometry, while 120 mm gives a larger, more stately rhythm — especially suitable for spacious rooms.

We offer lengths from 510 to 800 mm and a thickness of 16 or 19 mm. Classic herringbone is laid at 90°, while chevron can be made in 45° or 60° geometry. Special sizes are also available on request.

90 mm — a finer rhythm, suitable for small and medium rooms
120 mm — a larger pattern for spacious interiors

Chevron 45° — a sharper, more dynamic V line
Chevron 60° — a wider, calmer V line

Grade — choose the character

Every oak has its own natural pattern, knots and texture. Whether you prefer a calmer or a more expressive look, each board remains unique – just as nature made it. All parquet and plank floors, regardless of grade, vary in figure and character.

Standard oak grade in herringbone

Standard

More character through a rich natural pattern. The most natural look of oak, with clearly visible knots, figure and color nuances. The right choice when you want the authentic character of real wood.

Plus oak grade in herringbone

Plus

The most popular choice. A balance between a natural look and a calm texture. Fewer knots and a calmer structure, without losing the character of the oak.

Prima oak grade in herringbone

Prima

The cleanest look. The most refined selection with minimal knots and an even figure. Suitable for modern and minimalist interiors.

Colors and tones

From the natural color of oak to whitened, smoked, hand-patinated and dark tones – we will help you choose a shade that harmonizes with your interior. On request we can reproduce a color from a sample or a photo.

Color tones for herringbone parquet

A finish to match your lifestyle

Oil or lacquer? Matte or a more pronounced effect? We will recommend the most suitable finish based on the traffic in the room, the maintenance and the desired look. For patterned floors we often choose a matte finish — it lets the geometry speak.

We work with Loba systems – proven quality for natural wood floors. Read more about lacquers and wood floor oils.

Construction — solid or engineered

Every herringbone and chevron pattern can be made in two main versions. The right construction is determined by the subfloor, underfloor heating, the characteristics of the building and the expected traffic.

Solid parquet — made entirely of natural wood. Suitable for classic interiors, restorations and projects that call for traditional craftsmanship and the possibility of multiple renovations.

Engineered parquet — a 4 mm top layer of European oak on a stable birch plywood base. The recommended solution for underfloor heating and modern buildings, where higher stability is needed against changes in temperature and humidity.

Choosing by room

Which herringbone or chevron pattern suits your room?

Each pattern has its own scale and changes the way we perceive the space. Finer geometry adds rhythm without overwhelming compact rooms, while larger lamellas and expressive V shapes unfold best in spacious interiors. The area is a good starting point, but the final choice also depends on the shape of the room, the natural light, the furniture and the laying direction.

up to 12 m²

Fine geometry for a compact room

Recommended choice: classic herringbone with 90 mm lamellas. The finer pattern keeps the geometry clear without overloading the space. Suitable for bedrooms, studies and smaller rooms. Chevron can be used after assessing the shape and the visible floor area.

12–25 m²

A balanced rhythm for the home

Recommended choice: classic herringbone in 90 or 120 mm width. In well-proportioned rooms chevron 45° or 60° can also be used. This is the most flexible category for bedrooms, dining rooms and standard living rooms.

25–60 m²

Room for more expressive geometry

Recommended choice: chevron 45° or 60°, double herringbone or classic herringbone with 120 mm lamellas. In spacious living rooms and open spaces, the larger scale lets the V line and the natural texture of the oak unfold more clearly.

over 60 m²

Scale for a representative interior

Recommended choice: chevron, double herringbone or a special custom composition. In large open spaces, wider lamellas, non-standard sizes and individual geometries can be used. Suitable for spacious homes, hotel lobbies, restaurants, offices and representative spaces.

Herringbone, chevron or long plank – which one to choose?

Herringbone, chevron and long plank can all be produced from the same European oak, yet they create a different feel in the interior. Herringbone brings a classic rhythm, chevron emphasizes symmetry and architecture, and the long plank lets the natural texture of the wood take the lead.

Swipe the table sideways →

Choose herringbone if you want recognizable classic geometry and more rhythm. Go for chevron if you prefer a clean V-shaped line and a stronger architectural effect. Choose long plank if you want the floor to look calmer, with the natural texture of the oak taking the lead.

None of the three options is universally "better". The right choice depends on the area, the shape of the room, the furniture, the light and the overall interior concept.

Beneath the surface

Why is professional installation decisive for herringbone and chevron?

In herringbone and chevron parquet, every lamella is part of a larger geometry. Even a small deviation in the starting axis repeats in every following row and can become visible across the entire room. That is why the end result depends on the combination of precisely manufactured lamellas, a properly prepared subfloor, careful pattern planning and specialized installation. At Artistico, production and installation are carried out as one continuous process — from the initial measurements to the final inspection.

1

Checking and preparing the subfloor

Before installation we check the flatness, strength and residual moisture of the screed. With underfloor heating we also follow the heating protocol. A well-prepared subfloor reduces the risk of movement, open joints and unevenness.

2

Planning the direction and the central axis

We set the direction of the pattern according to the shape of the room, the natural light, the entrances and the main visual lines. We then mark the starting axis so the geometry unfolds symmetrically and ends in balance at the walls and transitions.

3

Selection and pre-laying

The lamellas are sorted by tone, texture and the natural figure of the oak. For chevron, both left and right elements are distributed. Pre-laying allows the natural color variation of the wood to look harmonious across the entire room.

4

Precise glued-down installation

The parquet is glued to the subfloor with a professional adhesive system chosen according to the construction, the screed and the presence of underfloor heating. Every row is checked against the set axis to preserve the exact angle and the continuous rhythm of the pattern.

5

Final inspection and finishing

After installation we check the lines, joints, transitions and details around walls, columns and doors. Depending on the chosen configuration, the floor is installed with a factory finish or finished on site with a suitable oil or lacquer. The client also receives specific recommendations for ongoing maintenance.

One floor. One team. One responsibility.

When production and installation are split between different contractors, the question of who is responsible when a problem arises often comes up. At Artistico, the lamellas, the geometry, the adhesive system, the installation and the finish are planned together and carried out by a specialized team.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about herringbone and chevron parquet

We have gathered the essentials about choosing a pattern, the construction, the price, underfloor heating and installation. If your project has specific requirements, send us a floor plan or a photo of the room.

Classic herringbone is made with rectangular lamellas laid at 90°. In chevron, the lamellas are cut at 45° or 60° and meet in a V-shaped line. Double herringbone alternates the lamellas in pairs and creates a larger, more expressive rhythm.

The choice depends on the area, the shape of the room, the light, the furniture and the visible part of the floor. In compact rooms a finer classic herringbone usually works best, while chevron and double herringbone unfold more clearly in more spacious interiors.

The solid version suits classic projects and restorations. Engineered parquet is more stable with changes in temperature and humidity and is usually the recommended choice for underfloor heating and modern buildings.

Yes, with a properly chosen construction, a prepared subfloor and professional glued-down installation. For underfloor heating we most often recommend engineered parquet with a top layer of natural oak on a stable birch plywood base.

The price is determined by the pattern, the construction, the lamella size, the oak grade, the color, the finish and the complexity of the installation. Chevron and special compositions usually require more production work and more precise laying. An exact quote is prepared after reviewing the project.

The usual production time is 3–5 weeks, and for special sizes and more complex colors — up to 6 weeks. The duration of the installation depends on the area, the pattern, the condition of the subfloor and the architectural features of the room.

Yes. Solid parquet and the engineered version with a sufficiently thick top layer can be professionally sanded and refinished. The number of renovations depends on the construction, the condition of the floor and the equipment used.

It is maintained like any quality natural wood floor — with regular dry cleaning and suitable products for the chosen oil or lacquer. Excessive water and aggressive detergents should be avoided. See the cleaning and maintenance products.

It can be used in a kitchen and hallway with a properly chosen finish and good maintenance. We do not recommend natural wood parquet for bathrooms and rooms with constant or high humidity.

The warranty terms cover the manufactured parquet, the finish system used and the installation, when carried out by the Artistico team. The specific terms and conditions are stated in the individual quote.

We need an approximate area, city, preferred pattern, information about underfloor heating and a desired time frame. A floor plan or photos of the room will help us give a more accurate initial recommendation.
