Anatomy of the wooden tread
A finished step consists of 5 visible and invisible parts, each with its own function and standard. Made-to-measure production means each of these parts is cut precisely for your staircase — no on-site adaptations, no patching.
We manufacture in both constructions: solid wood (20 mm solid oak from end to end — built for generations), and engineered (4 mm oak on birch plywood — stable under fluctuations and more affordable).
Tread - The main surface
The horizontal surface you step on. Thickness 20–40 mm.
Riser - The vertical panel
The vertical element between two treads. Thickness 16–20 mm.
Finishing profile - Nosing/Front edge
A rounded or profiled front edge with grooves for safety and LED lighting.
Side cap
Where needed — it closes off the side profile on open staircases.
Lacquer or oil
UV lacquer (more resistant to heavy traffic) or UV oil (more natural).

A front edge with grooves for an anti-slip or LED profile — meeting the safety regulations for public buildings and the interior requirements of any home.

Solid vs. engineered for stair treads
The choice between solid and engineered treads depends on expected traffic, budget and indoor climate. Compare the two constructions by the characteristics that matter.

For homes we recommend engineered — a staircase is a long-term investment, and solid/engineered wood gives maximum lifespan and the option to renew.
Why stair treads require a craftsman
A staircase has no true right angle. Every tread fits together with the others along precisely set radii and slopes. A 1 mm error on the first step accumulates by the 14th — and after 14 steps the height of the final one can become a problem. That is why with stair treads everything starts with on-site measurement.
On-site measurement
We arrive with a laser and a range of measuring tools. We record the exact dimensions of every step. Where necessary, we take templates. We check that the concrete steps are uniform in height and width
Production to drawing/template
Every tread is cut individually in our factory — precisely for its position in the staircase. Finished with UV lacquer or hardwax oil.
Anti-slip profile or channel for LED lighting
The front edge is milled with grooves or fitted with a recessed profile — on top for grip, or underneath for LED lighting.
Installation
Glue-down installation on a concrete or wooden base. It provides strength, solidity and sound insulation

Tread - The main surface
Solid /engineered, 16 or 19 mm, wrapped to appear 40 mm. Always made of selected oak.
Riser - The vertical panel
With or without — depending on the style (open or closed stairs).
Finishing profile - Nosing/Front edge
Grooves, a rounded edge or a combination — according to the project's interior design.
The oak look — choose the character
Wood is the perfectly imperfect material. The photos show general characteristics, but every natural tread is a unique expression of nature. All treads, whichever look you choose, will have variations in grain and character.
Standard
Puts all of oak's natural tendencies on display. Striking heartwood figuring, beautiful knots and winding streaks of sapwood.
Plus
A balanced grade between a clean look and intriguing character. The universal choice — suitable for classic and contemporary projects.
Prima
A clean grade with a subdued presence. Minimal colour variation and predominantly radial grain.
Colours and tones
Natural, smoked, whitened, hand-patinated, dark tones. Matching a sample is possible — if you already have an Artistico floor, the treads can match the same colour with no transition.
Finishes
Loba UV lacquer: maximum durability for heavy traffic (hotels, offices, multi-family buildings). Loba hardwax oil: a more natural feel, easy to refresh — for homes with normal use. 2K water-based lacquers: an eco-friendly alternative with high durability.

What is mandatory for an oak tread
The staircase is the only element in the home where a mistake can lead to a serious accident. That is why in production we follow the four core safety requirements, even if the client does not ask explicitly:
A highly durable finish: we recommend UV lacquer or hardwax for treads — not oil-waxes (more sensitive to moisture).
Stable fixing: glue-down installation on a concrete or wooden load-bearing structure — no treads coming loose over time.
Precise geometry: the same height on every step (deviation under 5 mm). Uneven heights make people stumble — this is a regulation, not a whim.
