Why Velvet Stone

SPC vinyl, selected with the experience of a flooring manufacturer

Velvet Stone is backed by more than 25 years of experience in manufacturing, installing and working with floors. That experience helps us judge not only how a floor looks, but how it behaves in everyday use, how it is installed and what determines how long it lasts. The collection is available exclusively from Artistico in Bulgaria, with professional consultation, preparation and installation from a single contractor.

Our own brand, exclusive to Bulgaria

Velvet Stone is available only from Artistico. We selected the construction, the click system and every one of the decors, instead of reselling someone else's catalog — and we stand behind our choice with a warranty.

100% waterproof flooring

The stone-polymer core does not absorb water and does not swell. It works in bathrooms, kitchens, wet rooms and basements — where natural wood is not suitable.

Rigid SPC core

6 mm total thickness with a 5 mm stone-polymer core. The board is stable underfoot, does not flex and has no “plastic” feel when you walk on it.

🜨

Realistic EIR wood texture

The surface relief follows the grain of the wood — the Embossed in Register technique. To the eye and to the touch, the floor comes closer to real oak than standard vinyl does.

Underfloor heating and quiet footfall

Compatible with water-based underfloor heating. The built-in 1 mm IXPE underlay muffles footsteps, makes the floor warmer to the touch and saves you buying a separate underlay.

Consultation, delivery and installation by one team

The flooring is in stock here in Trud. We deliver within 1–2 weeks, install with our own team and remain a single point of contact — as with every Artistico floor.

Before you choose

What is SPC flooring?

SPC is a vinyl floor covering with a rigid stone-polymer base. The abbreviation comes from Stone Plastic Composite — a construction that combines the stability of a mineral core with the practicality and easy maintenance of a modern vinyl floor.

Unlike soft vinyl flooring, SPC vinyl is built as a rigid board with a click system. It does not absorb water, does not swell on contact with moisture and gives a more stable feel underfoot. That makes it suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, living rooms, children's rooms and other heavily used spaces.

SPC floors are often searched for under the names “SPC laminate” and “vinyl parquet”. Technically they are neither laminate nor natural parquet — they are multi-layer vinyl floors with a rigid mineral core and a realistic wood look.

SPC or LVT — what is the difference?

SPC — rigid core

The stone-polymer core makes the board stable and allows floating installation with a click system, with no gluing to the subfloor. It does not absorb water and keeps its dimensions when the temperature changes.

LVT — flexible flooring

A softer, more flexible material that in most cases is glued to the subfloor. It follows the shape of the subfloor more closely, which is why it needs a better-prepared and more level floor.

Velvet Stone is SPC flooring — with a 5 mm stone-polymer core, an integrated IXPE underlay and a Välinge 2G click system. The detailed composition of the board is in the next section. The full explanation — what SPC is, how it compares with LVT and laminate, and which rooms it suits — is in the article What is SPC flooring.

Beneath the surface

What is inside a Velvet Stone board

SPC stands for Stone Plastic Composite — a stone-polymer composite. It is the core that makes the difference between a rigid, stable floor and a soft vinyl strip. Here is what you get, layer by layer:

  • 0.55 mm

    Wear layer with anti-scratch protection

It takes the everyday load — footsteps, chairs, pets. Use class 33, which also covers commercial spaces.

  • decor

    Decorative layer with EIR embossing

The print and the surface embossing line up — you feel the knots and the grain under your fingers exactly where the eye sees them.

  • 5 mm

    Stone-polymer core

Rigid, stable and unaffected by water. It does not swell or bow, and it keeps the click joint tightly closed.

  • 1 mm

    Integrated IXPE underlay

Closed-cell foam — a quiet step, a warmer feel and installation straight onto a leveled screed, with no separate underlay.

Välinge 2G click system — the boards lock together without glue and the floor is ready to use as soon as it is laid.

Choosing by room

Which rooms is Velvet Stone SPC flooring suitable for?

The waterproof construction, easy maintenance and stable core make Velvet Stone SPC flooring suitable for a range of rooms in the home, as well as for offices and commercial spaces. See where these properties bring the greatest practical benefit:

Bathroom

Wet rooms — no compromises

The only wood-look flooring we recommend for a bathroom. Water does not affect it — neither from the shower nor from the washing machine. The tight click joints keep moisture from getting under the floor.

Kitchen

Spills, steam and dropped dishes

The core does not react to water, and the anti-scratch layer handles chair legs and dropped cutlery. It is cleaned with a damp cloth — no special cleaning products needed.

Entrance hall

Sand, salt and wet shoes

The entrance is where floors die fastest. Class 33 and the wear layer are built for exactly this kind of load — and the floor shows no trace of winter.

Children's room

Warm, quiet and easy to clean

The IXPE underlay makes the floor warmer and quieter underfoot. Toys, toy cars and spilled juice leave no trace.

Office

Commercial spaces and heavy foot traffic

Use class 33 covers offices and retail spaces. Click installation is quick — the space is back in use the very next day.

This way the floor and the staircase can be finished in a single color and wood texture — with no random transitions between different materials.

Every staircase is assessed individually. The scope of the work — treads only, or risers as well — is specified according to the dimensions, the shape, the substructure and the technical particulars of the specific staircase.

An honest comparison

SPC flooring, laminate or natural wood flooring — which should you choose?

No single flooring is right for every room. SPC vinyl, laminate and a natural wood floor each have their own advantages. The right choice depends on moisture, how heavily the room is used, the feel underfoot, underfloor heating, your budget and how long you expect the floor to last. We sell all three — which is why we can compare them honestly.

Choose SPC vinyl for the rooms where wood would be a compromise — bathrooms, kitchens, entrance halls, basements and high-traffic projects. For living rooms and bedrooms, where the floor is an investment for generations, see our engineered European oak flooring — we make it ourselves, in Trud.

When is SPC the better choice? When you are looking for a low-maintenance floor for actively used rooms where moisture and daily wear are important factors — kitchens, entrance halls, hallways, living rooms, children's rooms and offices.

When should you choose a natural wooden floor? If what matters most to you is the natural material, the authentic feel and the option to refinish the floor over time — take a look at engineered oak flooring and solid oak flooring.

The price of SPC flooring

What determines the price of SPC flooring with installation?

The price per square meter is only one part of the total. The final figure depends on the format and decor you choose, the quantity needed, the condition of the subfloor, the complexity of the rooms, the installation and the finishing details. That is why every quote is calculated for the specific project.

1

Format and decor

Straight planks and SPC herringbone differ in the price of the material, the allowance required and the complexity of laying. Herringbone calls for more precise cutting and more material.

2

Area and cutting allowance

A cutting allowance is added to the net area. It depends on the direction of laying, the shape of the rooms, the number of corners and transitions, and the format you choose.

3

Preparing the subfloor

The subfloor must be level, dry, clean and stable. Where unevenness exceeds 2 mm per square meter, a self-leveling screed is applied before installation.

Additional underlay is not laid — the boards have a built-in IXPE underlay. However, it cannot compensate for an uneven subfloor, so leveling is a precondition for a proper installation, not an option.

4

SPC stairs made to size

Cladding a staircase is quoted individually. The price depends on the number and size of the steps, the condition of the substrate, the landings, how the edges are finished and the agreed scope of work.

Would you like an exact quote for your project? Send us the approximate area, the town and a few photos or a plan of the rooms. We will calculate the quantity needed, assess the work involved and prepare an individual quote for the flooring, delivery and installation.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about SPC flooring

What is SPC vinyl, is it suitable for a bathroom and for underfloor heating, and can it be laid over old tiles? We have gathered the answers to the most common questions asked before choosing and installing.

SPC is a multi-layer vinyl flooring with a rigid stone-polymer core (Stone Plastic Composite). It combines a stable construction, moisture resistance, easy maintenance and installation with a click system. It is often searched for as “SPC laminate” or “vinyl parquet”, but technically it is neither laminate nor natural wood flooring.

SPC has a rigid mineral-polymer core, while LVT vinyl floors are more flexible and in most cases are glued down to the subfloor. The rigid construction of SPC gives a stable board and allows a floating installation with a click system, without adhesive.

The stone-polymer core does not absorb water and does not swell on contact with moisture. That makes the flooring suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and other rooms where spills are possible. It is important to keep in mind that the flooring itself does not replace waterproofing — when installing in a bathroom, the subfloor, the perimeter and the transitions must be done properly.

For living rooms, bedrooms, children's rooms, kitchens, entrance halls, hallways, offices and commercial spaces, and also for wet areas with the right preparation and installation. Use class 33 covers heavy use in both residential and commercial settings.

The main difference is in the construction. SPC has a stone-polymer core that does not absorb water, while laminate is built on an HDF board and its moisture resistance depends on the particular product. Laminate is usually the more affordable option; SPC is the practical choice where the demands on moisture resistance and maintenance are higher.

Choose SPC if you want easy maintenance, moisture resistance and a practical solution for rooms in constant use. If a natural material, authentic texture and the option to refinish the floor over time matter to you, take a look at solid oak flooring and engineered oak flooring. We supply both types of flooring and can give you an objective recommendation for your project.

Yes — with a compatible system, provided the technical requirements for installation and use are followed. The subfloor must be level and dry, and the temperature must be raised gradually and stay within the limits allowed for the product. When you send an inquiry, tell us what type of underfloor heating you have.

On a level, dry, clean and stable subfloor. Where unevenness exceeds 2 mm per square meter, a self-leveling screed is applied before installation. The condition of the subfloor is checked in advance — the built-in underlay cannot compensate for significant deviations.

In many cases yes — if the tiles are firmly fixed, level, dry and free of cracked or loose areas. Deep grout joints and unevenness require leveling beforehand. The final assessment is made after inspecting the existing floor.

No. Velvet Stone boards come with a built-in IXPE underlay and a second underlay is not added. A softer or additional underlay puts stress on the click joints and can damage them. If the subfloor is uneven, the answer is to level it with a self-leveling screed before installation, not to add an underlay.

With ordinary day-to-day cleaning — a vacuum cleaner or a damp mop, with no special cleaning products. The surface is not lacquered and is not sanded. If a board is seriously damaged, it is replaced, provided the installation and access allow it.

With the subfloor already prepared, laying around 50 m² usually takes between one and two working days. The time depends on the format of the flooring, the number of rooms and the finishing details. After the dry click installation the floor can be used right away. If a self-leveling screed has been laid, time has to be allowed for it to dry.

Yes. We make SPC stairs to custom sizes in decors matching the Velvet Stone flooring. The scope of the work — the treads only, or the risers as well — is confirmed based on the dimensions, shape and condition of the particular staircase. For a wood version, see wooden stairs.

On the format and decor you choose, the area, the wastage allowance, the condition of the subfloor, the installation, the skirting boards, the transition profiles and delivery. Once we have measurements, photos or a plan, we can prepare an indicative quote. See the "What determines the price" section above.

For an initial estimate it is enough to send an approximate area, a list of the rooms, the town or city of the site, a preferred format or decor, 2–3 photos or a plan, information about underfloor heating, and whether you want delivery, installation or SPC stairs. You do not need exact measurements — we will tell you what else is needed.
