An octagonal interlace of doubled light bands lies over a field of oak triangles set as a chevron. Where the bands cross, small diamonds are closed off. Oak holds the background and gives the warmth, ash pulls the line and makes it legible from a distance. The combination in the photograph is one of the possible ones — either of the two woods is swapped for another, and the interlace stays the same. It works well in a large entrance hall or an open living room, where the pattern has room to repeat.
