Square within a square — several frames cut at 45° go one into another and make a sense of depth. The ash holds the light sides and the widest bands, the walnut takes the dark ones, an oak strip warms the transition, and a black wenge thread draws the edge. At the bottom lies a wenge field with a four-petalled flower of ash set into it and a dot at the centre — the only place with curved lines. The four woods are not fixed: we make the drawing more contrasting or softer, the stepped frame stays. Suitable for a study and a dining room.
