Galant Rosette 2

The same acanthus hand, drawn out into an ellipse — two stems set off from the spiral at the centre and open out towards the two ends. Oak holds the field in four quarters, wenge closes the oval and pulls the dark outlines, doussie draws the stems and the red leaves, walnut adds the brown ones, and ash lights the pale tips. The five woods are not obligatory — each one takes a substitution, and the drawing stays as it is. The ellipse sits well in a long room or in a hallway between two doors.
