A dense interlace of scrolls, crescents and circles — symmetrical on four sides, with a dot in the middle. Oak holds the field, divided into four triangles, and doussie draws the whole ornament with its dark red curves. Every curved piece is cut on its own — about ninety of them go into one panel. The two woods in the photograph are a start, not an end: we change the light one, the dark one or both, and the ornament stays unchanged. For formal rooms where the floor is the main thing.
