Squares set one inside another, scattered at different scales — the pattern does not repeat in any obvious way, it spreads out like a mosaic. Oak carries everything, and a thin doussie edging outlines every square and ties the composition together. The bevelled corners turn the grain and every field catches the light differently. The red can become black or honey, the oak — darker: we change the wood, not the arrangement. A good choice for a large room, where a single repeating motif would look dull.
