The oak boards in every square set off in four groups and turn like a propeller around the centre. A wide oak band closes the square, and a thin ash edging — almost cream — separates panel from panel. At the crossings we cut a small square with a four-pointed star in doussie; this is the only red accent in the whole floor. These three woods are a suggestion — the star can go darker, the field lighter, and the drawing stays. It works in a living room and a hallway, where the floor has to read as one whole.
