Diamonds come together in threes and the optical effect turns them into stacked cubes — the floor looks three-dimensional, though it is flat. Everything is oak; the effect comes from the direction of the grain in each diamond, which is split into two or three strips. If you wish, one of the three diamonds is cut from a darker wood and the cubes come out clearer still. A simple pattern that works well in modern interiors.
