A wide oak band with thin wenge stringers running along it — two parallel lines which, at even intervals, open out into a four-leaf clover with a small circle and a cross at the centre. On the outside the band is closed by a solid wenge strip and a wider ash one. A calm, draughtsman's pattern — more line than ornament. Oak, wenge and ash are a suggestion; any one of the three can be changed without touching the drawing.
