A dense ornament of fan-shaped palmettes, curved stems and buds that interlace along the whole band; at the corner the stems tie into a knot. Walnut is the background, ash carries the whole pattern, wenge closes the band with two dark stringers. The combination shown is one of many — the light and the dark swap places, or the wood itself does, and the ornament stands untouched. A wide frieze for a formal room.
