The motif is classical: a crown of palmettes in dark red repeats at even steps, and between the palmettes runs a light interlaced arcade with small flowers. Oak holds the ground of the band, doussie carries the large drawing, ash gives the light contour. The corner is worked out separately — there the motif unfolds into a curved spiral instead of simply turning. The combination in the photograph is one of the possible ones; each of the three woods is changed without our touching the drawing. It works around the perimeter of a large living room or in an entrance hall with a wide passage.
