A more open version of the interlace — two bands run parallel and tie into a knot at even intervals. Walnut cuts the bands themselves, oak holds the light field beneath them, wenge stays the thin stringer that outlines each strip. There is no separate square in the corner: the bands turn and tie on the spot. The woods are changed to taste — a darker band or a warmer ground, the drawing is the same. Suits smaller rooms, where a wide frieze would weigh things down.
