Five strips arranged symmetrically: two dark ones on the outside, two warm ones between them and one narrow cream stringer in the middle. The walnut holds the frame, the oak warms, the ash divides. We cut straight edges and break the band at 45 degrees at the corner. The combination in the photograph is one of the possible ones — each of the five strips can start with a different wood, and the order stays the same. It works as a quiet outline around a large field.
