A square panel with an inscribed medallion whose ends curve inwards. The ornament is the same acanthus — whirls, arrows and palmettes gathered around a fan of ash. The oak holds the whole field, the walnut writes out the leaves, doussie sets the red accents, the ash the light flames, and wenge runs as a thin line along every outline. The woods shown are a suggestion — we change any of them without touching the pattern. The square form sits well at the centre of a room with a rectangular plan.
