Eight pairs of curved figures turn around a central medallion, and a frieze of triangles and arcs runs along the edge. The oak is laid out in a fan and holds the whole field; doussie gives the red darts and drops, wenge draws the thin contours and the small leaves, walnut renders the spirals and scrolls. The combination can be rearranged — any of the four woods can be replaced as you choose, and the pattern is not touched. Suited to a dining room or a drawing room, where the rosette stands alone in the middle of the floor.
