Compass Rosette

A compass rose with eight long rays and a second row of short ones between them, set within a circle and placed in a square frame. Walnut is the background and the dark half of every ray, oak takes the round field, ash — the light points and the thin strip in the frame. Everything is cut straight and angled: about eighty pieces, without a single curve. The three woods are a suggestion; any one of them can be changed and the pattern stays.
