Coronation Rosette

A dense classical ornament: four acanthus scrolls turn around an octagonal core, and a ring of egg-shaped leaves closes them off on the outside. Cherry holds the warm field, ash writes out the light curves, oak fills the background and the outer rings, and wenge cuts the finest dark contours. The four woods are a suggestion — we change any one of them and the ornament comes out the same. It works in a round foyer or under a chandelier in a dining room.
