Medici Rosette

A rectangular panel: an eight-rayed star in a circle at the centre, four fields with scattered small stars at the sides, and thin frames that hold the composition. Oak is the base and carries the golden field. Wenge and walnut outline the dark lines and the rays, ash lights up in the stars, and merbau and cherry give the red tone at the centre. The six woods are only one of the readings — each can be replaced without touching the pattern.
