Sunflower Rosette

A sun of petals in four concentric wreaths: a dark core, a ring of "eyes" with a dot in the centre, then two rows of elongated leaves. Each wreath carries twenty-four elements and is turned against the one before it, so the rays never line up. Ash gives the light leaves and the outer edge, oak — the warm gold of the wide petals, walnut darkens the second row, wenge makes the core and all the outlines. The woods are interchangeable — a lighter or a darker set of four gives the same drawing a different character.
