Twelve spokes run out from a small star at the centre and open out to the edge — each one is assembled from flat triangles that alternate light and dark. There is not a single curved line: the whole rosette is on straight cuts, which is why the pattern reads from a distance. The oak carries the golden fans, the walnut gives the warmer wedges and the outer edging, the wenge cuts the dark triangles, the ash lights up in the small star. The four woods are exchanged as you choose — the contrast becomes softer or sharper, the geometry stays.
