An octagon with an interlaced star made of four squares — the bands pass one under the other and leave eight small diamonds at the centre. Everything is cut in straight lines and angles, without a single curve. The ash is the background, doussie holds the interlaced bands, the wenge outlines the outer edge and the small diamonds. The woods are interchangeable — with a darker background or a quieter colour for the bands, the interlace will read differently, and the drawing stays. It suits a modern interior where the geometry carries more than the ornament.
